It was with great sadness that Friends of the Vale heard of the recent death of Dave Quinney after a brave and cheerful battle with illness.

Dave was one of our longest standing volunteers who was  well known in the Country Park for his love of wild life photography and the delight he took from observing the birds in the Nature Reserve.

He was passionate in his support of all aspects of Reddish Vale , working both outdoors on the management of gardens, pathways and repairs and indoors in the Visitor Centre serving refreshments. He always had a friendly word for everyone and was well known for his enthusiasm, good humour and generosity.

His was a special contribution to the nature and purpose of Reddish Vale Country Park. Without people like Dave, it would not have become the treasured place in the community that it now is.

He will be remembered as a lovely friend and be sadly missed by us all.
