Herb Robert is a native annual.
Very common throughout the British Isles.
Found in woods, hedgebanks, walls, stony places and as a garden weed.
Grows to a height of 45cm.
Herb Robert is named after Robert Moleme, an 11th Century healer.
It was used from the Middle Ages onwards to staunch bleeding and to heal wounds, also used as a poultice for painful joints.
Culpeper also recomended herb robert for "the stone" and to cure old ulcers "in the privities and other parts".
If you crush herb robert leaves between your fingers they release a very unpleasant smell.
