Red Shank is a native annual and is very common all over Britain on waste ground, by water and as an arable weed.
Grows to a height of 70cm.
Easily recognised by the dark spot on its leaves which has been attributed in legend to the blood of Christ or to being pinched by the Virgin Mary or the Devil.
